Nicky Catsburg has gone for simplicity in his racing number design as he prepares for his inaugural season in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO.

The Dutchman will carry number 88 on his Hyundai i30 N TCR with the colours of his national flag central to his design.

“My design is quite simple,” said Catsburg. “I’ve used some colours from my helmet which are basically the colours of the Dutch flag. I wanted to go with the [Dutch] lion but then I saw that [Esteban] Guerrieri took something similar so in the end it’s plain and simple, but number 88 is the number to watch this season.”

Of his choice of number, expectant father Catsburg explained: “I’ve chosen number 88 which is actually my wedding date, 8 August. As you all know it’s important to have a lot of support from home so I’m actually doing this to score bonus points with my wife!”

WTCR / OSCARO drivers are being invited to submit their own racing number number design by promoter Eurosport Events. While the individual designs won’t feature on the sides or windscreens of the competing cars in accordance with the WTCR / OSCARO sporting regulations from the FIA, they will have a number of uses to appeal to fans including television graphics and autograph session display material.
