Tom Coronel will put his endurance racing skills to the test when he takes part in the inaugural Spa 500 in Belgium this weekend.

Coronel, part of the Comtoyou DHL Team CUPRA Racing attack in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO, will partner Rik Breukers and WTCR / OSCARO race winner Pepe Oriola in a CUPRA TCR at the famous Ardennes Forest track.

As well as the chance of some silverware, Coronel is excited by the prospect of time behind the wheel in a CUPRA TCR ahead of WTCR JVCKENWOOD Race of Japan later this month.

“Mileage always works so that’s one of the reasons why I like to race every weekend,” said the Dutchman. “And, if you are a TCR driver, you want to do as much as possible because the opportunities are there. It’s also a chance to have some fun at one of the best tracks on the planet.”

A number of other WTCR / OSCARO drivers past and present will be taking part with Mikel Azcona, Antti Buri and Aurélien Comte also competing in the event, while Rob Huff’s Teamwork Huff Motorsport will also be in action.

The Spa 500 begins at 15h00 CET today (Saturday) and will take place over a maximum 500 laps of Spa-Francorchamps or 23 hours.
