WTCR / OSCARO driver Tom Coronel has put his increased speed at WTCR Race of Slovakia down to “Tommy Time”.

Coronel was third quickest in Free Practice 1, second best in Free Practice 2 before going fifth fastest in First Qualifying as he impressed in his Comtoyou DHL Team CUPRA Racing entry.

“It’s a good swing,” said the Dutchman. “I won here in 2013, had a good result at this track last year and I also feel confident because at the test we made with Comtoyou in the winter I was the fastest so it gives you confidence and confidence is good for the consistency and not to make mistakes in your head. It’s gone better than expected. It’s Tommy Time let’s say.”

Although First Qualifying went to plan, an off in the rain-affected Second Qualifying meant Coronel was unclassified although he is set to line up at the back of the grid for Races 2 and 3.
