Dornieden tops Esports WTCR OSCARO Hungaroring qualifying
Alexander Dornieden demonstrated his simracing skills in style with the fastest qualifying time for the Esports WTCR OSCARO Multiplayer Championship opener, which takes place at a virtual Hungaroring on Sunday evening.
Dornieden, who won the Esports WTCC title in 2017, was one of 96 drivers who secured a grid spot split over four RaceRoom Racing Experience servers.
The German topped the timing sheets for Veloce Esports in the #68 Honda, that Yann Ehrlacher to took to victory in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO round at the Hungarian Grand Prix track in April.
Slovakian Bence Bánki was second for ACR Zakspeed ahead of Turn1’s Tim Heinemann, while Nikodem Wisniewski and OSCARO eSports by SDL’s Kévin Leaune rounded out the top five ahead of the strongest newcomer, Andika Rama Maulana from Indonesia.
Adam Pinczes was the fastest Hungarian in P10, while Gergo Baldi, who won the Hungaroring race at the Esports Launch Event earlier this year, could only manage P13, such is the highly competitive nature of Esports WTCR OSCARO.
That was further demonstrated when Márk Nándori, fourth in Esports WTCC in 2017, just made it on to the grid for Sunday’s action, which will be streamed live from 19h00 CET on Sunday 26 August on Facebook or YouTube. Click here for more on Esports WTCR OSCARO.
