Ehrlacher collects TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy to go with points lead
Yann Ehrlacher claimed the TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy at WTCR Race of Netherlands to go with his new points lead in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO, after a successful weekend of racing at Zandvoort.
The ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport driver took victory in Race 1 on Sunday in his Honda Civic Type R TCR, setting a fastest lap of 1m45.901s along the way.
Jean-Karl Vernay set the fastest lap in Race 2 despite starting from the back with a new engine on Monday, then swept to a comprehensive Race 3 victory from the DHL Pole Position later in the day. But the Audi Sport Leopard Lukoil Team couldn’t quite claim the TAG Heuer Best Lap trophy, too: both his fastest laps in Races 2 and 3 proved slower than Ehrlacher’s mark from Race 1.
Frenchman Ehrlacher now leads the WTCR OSCARO points standings by nine points, having demoted his uncle Yvan Muller from the top spot after a disastrous non-scoring weekend for the YMR Hyundai driver. Ehrlacher is also the TAG Heuer Most Valuable driver for his high tally of points scored at Zandvoort.
