WTCR racer Ehrlacher hoped for more

Yann Ehrlacher has revealed how he should have left the Nürburgring Nordschleife with more points in his bid to win the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO.

Ehrlacher was sixth in Race 2 but lost out on a potential fourth place in the weekend’s final counter due to a technical issue on his Honda Civic Type R TCR.

“I was very pleased to qualify fifth, because that means I’ve been in the top-five in every second qualifying this year,” said the ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport Honda driver. “That meant I was sixth for Race 2 on the reversed grid, and it’s where I finished because with the slipstream it was impossible not to lose two places on the long straight on the last lap. I should have been fourth in the last race, but the fuel pressure dropped suddenly as I started the last lap and I had to stop.”

ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport team-manager Dominik Greiner said: “Yann drove well and it’s a shame he’s lost a strong finish to an issue in Race 3, but we’ll investigate what occurred and make sure it never happens again.”

Ehrlacher will be back on WTCR duty at Circuit Zandvoort in The Netherlands this weekend.
