Haglöf gets squeezed in WTCR
Daniel Haglöf lost out on a potential fifth-place finish in Race 1 at WTCR Race of Slovakia due to damage caused when his PWR Racing CUPRA TCR got squeezed.
The Swede was impressing on his Slovakia Ring debut only for an incident with two rivals to hit his hopes and drop him down the order.
“I got squeezed between Jean-Karl Vernay and Nicky Catsburg I think in the exit of Turn 3 so I got some big damage on my right-front wheel,” said Haglöf. “I tried to keep the position but I was struggling so much with the alignment both in the top speed and in the left-hand corners. I was just waiting for the pack to come and I was hoping I would score some points.”
Haglöf eventually finished in P19 after losing more time when his tyres gradually lost performance. “The tyres were dropping off and with the alignment stressing them too much I lost pace, that was the story.”
