Homola makes it nine in WTCR OSCARO
Mato Homola’s victory in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO in Vila Real on Sunday made him the ninth different winner of 2018.
Homola struck gold in Race 2 at WTCR OSCARO by getting the better of touring car legend Yvan Muller, thanks in part to a more effective ‘joker’ lap strategy aboard his DG Sport Compétition PEUGEOT 308TCR.
“My Race 2 was pretty good,” said Slovakian racer Homola. “I had a good start, I used the opportunity to overtake Yvan then we had a really good strategy with the joker. But all the race I was followed by Yvan. And as a really experienced and fast driver, it was hard not to make any mistakes, but I didn’t do any mistakes so I was first. It is a very nice experience and feeling for me, but I need to continue this in the following races.”
The nine WTCR OSCARO winners from 15 races are:
Gabriele Tarquini: 3
Thed Björk: 2
Yann Ehrlacher: 2
Yvan Muller: 2
Jean-Karl Vernay: 2
Aurélien Comte: 1
Esteban Guerrieri: 1
Mato Homola: 1
Rob Huff: 1
