Honda-powered racers will chase more success in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO in 2019.

Although an announcement from the Japanese make stopped short of revealing the drivers that would race the Honda Civic Type R TCRs in WTCR / OSCARO, it confirmed more information would be provided once all arrangements had been finalised.

The Honda press release read: “Honda will supply [the] Civic Type R-based racing machine for the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup. Honda will make an announcement about the team competing in the series as soon as the details are decided.”

In 2018, Yann Ehrlacher and Esteban Guerrieri both won races in WTCR / OSCARO driving Honda Civic Type R TCRs for ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport with Ehrlacher leading the standings following WTCR Race of Netherlands at Zandvoort in May.

Timo Scheider and James Thompson finished on the podium for the team, while Tom Coronel, Benjamin Lessennes and Ma Qing Hua scored points driving Civic Type R TCRs for Boutsen Ginion Racing, which welcomed back Tiago Monteiro to competition following his recovery from serious injury.

WTCR Race of Morocco hosts the 2019 WTCR / OSCARO season opener on the Circuit Moulay El Hassan in Marrakech from 5-7 April.
