Augusto Farfus is counting down the days until the 2019 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO fires into life at WTCR Race of Morocco next month.

Despite his extensive touring car experience, Farfus will be a WTCR / OSCARO rookie when season two begins in Marrakech from 5-7 April. But he’s excited rather than apprehensive about the prospect of joining the #WTCR2019SUPERGRID.

“Without a doubt this year will be one of the strongest fields in the history of touring cars,” said the Hyundai i30 N TCR racer. “The level is extremely high so the racing will be extremely exciting to watch, a really good show.”

Brazilian Farfus has been racking up testing kilometres for the Hyundai-powered BRC team in recent weeks and likes what he sees.

“It’s a race car and after the first few laps I did at the end of last year I felt immediately comfortable in the car,” said Farfus. “There are many known faces in the team from the old times so it’s a little like getting home, I am extremely excited.”

He continued: “It’s going to be tough, it’s not going to be easy. The championship has to be played like a chess game, it’s not every time all in, you have to read the races, the race will be very short but extremely intense and I’m going to love it.”
