Nagy claims first WTCR DHL Pole Position for reverse-grid Race 2
Norbert Nagy has landed his first DHL Pole Position in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO, for the reverse-grid Race 2 at WTCR Race of Slovakia.
The Zengő Motorsport driver qualified his Cupra TCR in P10 during the Q2 qualifying session at the Slovakia Ring on Saturday afternoon, handing him his maiden DHL pole. With BRC Racing Team’s Norbert Michelisz topping the Q3 top-five shoot-out, it means two Hungarians will start from the front for the two remaining races of WTCR Race of Slovakia.
“I made a mistake on my first lap in Q2, but that has made my pole position!” said a happy Nagy. “We had some struggles in the first part of the weekend – but I think I’m ready to enjoy this race.”
Nagy will be joined on the front row by touring car legend Gabriele Tarquini, who could only qualify his BRC Racing Team Hyundai i30 N TCR P9 in the session following his DHL Pole Position and podium P3 in Race 1.
Teenage Belgian Benjamin Lessennes will start on row two in his Boutsen Ginion Racing Honda Civic Type R TCR, with fellow countryman Frédéric Vervisch beside him in his Audi Sport Team Comtoyou Audi RS 3 LMS.
Race 1 winner Pepe Oriola missed out on the Q3 shoot-out in P6, which means he starts fifth in Race 2.
The reverse-grid Race 2 of WTCR Race of Slovakia takes place on Saturday evening at 19h00 local time, with Race 3 taking place on Sunday morning at 11h45 local time.
