Pepe Oriola’s fastest lap in Race 2 was enough to reward the Spaniard with the TAG Heuer Best lap Trophy at WTCR JVCKENWOOD Race of Japan, despite the Team OSCARO by Campos Racing Cupra TCR missing out on victory.

Oriola started the reverse-grid encounter from the DHL Pole Position, then lost his best hope of victory at the start when Rob Huff’s Sébastien Loeb Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR beat him into Turn 1. But an effort of 2m13.163sec was enough to earn Oriola the fastest race lap of the weekend.

His mark just edged out Kevin Ceccon’s fastest lap in his Race 1 victory, the Italian setting a best of 2m13.198sec. Race 3 winner Gabriele Tarquini set the fastest lap in the final contest of the weekend, with a time of 2m13.464s.
