Benjamin Leuchter said SLR Volkswagen’s double podium at WTCR Race of Netherlands yesterday felt like a double win for the French team.

The Sébastien Loeb Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI TCRs have struggled for form this season but a two-three finish in Zandvoort’s second race – with Leuchter second and Johan Kristoffersson third – put a stop to that.

“If I’m looking back six weeks it felt like a double win today with two Golfs on the podium,” said German driver Leuchter (left). “I am really pleased and really thankful. The team did an amazing job in the time between Marrakech to now. This second and third place we give it to the team, it’s amazing.”

Kristoffersson, the double FIA World Rallycross champion, said: “It feels very nice. I had my first good result yesterday and today a podium. Me and Benny and the Golf seems to be quite strong this weekend and it’s nice to be able to fight at the front. It’s really nice for the team because they are working really hard. It’s also nice to see so many people here watching the race and we enjoyed it as well.”
