WTCR drivers officially on the #RoadToMalaysia
Drivers contesting the 2019 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO are officially on the #RoadToMalaysia following the start of the new season in Marrakech yesterday. And this is the trophy they’ll be aiming to win.
The work of renowned Moroccan artist Yahya, the striking new WTCR / OSCARO drivers’ trophy measures 120cm in height and is made from stainless steel.
It was displayed on the grid prior to Race 1 at WTCR AFRIQUIA Race of Morocco when all drivers – and François Ribeiro, Head of Eurosport Events, the WTCR / OSCARO promoter – assembled for a photocall.
The trophy then remained in position as the drivers began their formation lap, passing either side of the trophy and a camera operator from Eurosport Events’ production team filming live from the track.
WTCR AFRIQUIA Race of Morocco is the opening event of WTCR / OSCARO’s 10-weekend global tour, which finishes at the Sepang International Circuit near Kuala Lumpur for the inaugural WTCR Race of Malaysia super-finale.
