WTCR leader Girolami proud after brother Franco completes family win double
It was double celebration time for the Girolami family last weekend. While Néstor Girolami was busy winning at WTCR Race of Slovakia, his younger brother Franco was on top form in San Juan, some 12400 kilometres away.
Franco Girolami, 27, won the third round of the Top Race V6 series on the El Zonda circuit in San Juan in a Mitsubishi Lancer GT.
It was a result that enabled the younger Girolami to close the gap to current points leader Agustín Canapino in his bid to win the Top Race V6 title for the second season running.
“It made us very proud,” said Néstor Girolami, who leads the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO for the Honda-powered ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport team having claimed a third victory of 2019 at the Slovakia Ring. “My brother’s dream is also one day to come to race in Europe.”
The older Girolami will be aiming to continue to lead on the #RoadToMalaysia when 2020 Dutch Grand Prix venue hosts WTCR Race of Netherlands from 17-19 May.
